Professional Staff Promotion Opportunities

There are two avenues that Professional Staff can pursue for professional advancement. They are Reclassification and a Performance-Based Promotion.


Reclassification occurs when the position an employee holds has changed significantly enough to warrant reclassification to a higher title. The employee or the employee’s supervisor may initiate the reclassification process at any time as applications for
reclassification are accepted by Human Resources on a rolling basis.

Performance-Based Promotion:

Performance-Based Promotions are promotions granted to professional staff members who meet the University’s criteria for a Performance-Based Promotion. Applications are submitted directly to the University President and are due on the first day of the Spring semester in January, which is typically the day after Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
