Statement to the Board of Trustees

On Halloween, Rich Wolfson addressed the Board of Trustees on a number of the agenda items. He congratulated Dan Bronson and Irene Douma on receiving Emeriti status. Combined they have taught at Montclair State University for almost 80 years. 

He also spent time talking to the Trustees about the composition of the search committee for the position of Vice President of Human Resources, addtional spending for consultants working on the OneMontclair project, and the capital budget plan of $314 million. On November 5th, the general election in New Jersey happens. We have an opportunity to cast our votes for local and statewide positions, including Governor. The officers of AFT Local 1904 encourage you all to take a moment and thoughtfully consider who you are voting for and whether or not the candidates in question stand with Labor.  Also, remember to vote "Yes" on Question #2 and help Raise the Minimum Wage.

Book Drive A Success!

AFT Local 1904's members donated over 200 children's books to Irvington Public Schools. Many thanks to Paul Martinez for coordinating this effort.

Homecoming 2013

AFT Local 1904 was there to greet the alumni/ae, students and their families, and other visitors at Montclair State University's 2013 Homecoming. Members of the Local handed out over 700 bottles of water, as well as AFT logo keychains, rain ponchos, stickers, pencils and the ever popular anti-bullying wristbands. Rocky even stopped by to say hello.

Second Gubernatorial Debate on October 15, 2013

Montclair State University will host New Jersey’s second gubernatorial debate of the 2013 election season at the Alexander Kasser Theater on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, from 8:00 – 9:30 p.m. The debate between Governor Chris Christie and State Senator Barbara Buono will be broadcast statewide on NJTV, New Jersey’s public television network. The debate will be livestreamed on the websites of Montclair State University, NJTV, C-Span, WBGO 88.3FM, WKXW 101.5FM,  WNYC and WHYY/NewsWorks.org. Check local listings on NJTV’s website at Where to Watch.
