Join Our Solidarity Walk 9/30 12:30pm

In the current climate of contract negotiations (and working without a contract) it is time again to increase our visibility on campus to assert our value as public employees. Join the AFT Local 1904 members in a solidarity walk around campus. We will meet Wednesday, September 30th at 12:30pm in front of Cafe Diem. Wear your AFT blue shirt (we can provide one, if needed) and join us in a 20-minute walk around campus. It will increase your physical and mental health as well as communicate your support for collective bargaining.

Red Hawk Day 2015

Despite the intense heat, Red Hawk Day was a rousing success this year. The Outreach Committee (chaired by Alex Sperling) would like to thank the following volunteers for their assistance with the event: Rich Wolfson, Louise Davies, Nancy Rosario-Layne, Jennifer Higgins and Joseph Christensen. 

Contract Negotiations FAQs and Update

From Bill Sullivan-AFT Local 1904 Vice President for External Affairs (sent out to members on August 6, 2015):

As I am sure you are now aware, our statewide agreement with the governor's office and the State College/University presidents expired on June 30th. We requested dates to negotiate a successor agreement, but Office of Employee Relations (OER) agreed to meet with our negotiating committee only once, July 17, with no further dates planned at this point.

The OER recently sent a letter to our statewide Council President Tim Haresign stating that the State Colleges/Universities will not continue to pay normal increments (Steps) to our unit members and that the future of the increments is dependent upon mutual agreement during contract negotiations. You can see that entire letter here.

We have received a number of questions since the first increments were withheld on July 1st and we thought a FAQ at this point would be helpful. If you have further questions,
